The customary Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) in the wake of dawn of the New Year began on the morning of 16 April 2024, with the participation of Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Commander of Security Forces (West), as the Chief Guest at the gymnasium premises at Panagoda.
Simultaneously, the West Commander distributed gift packs worth 8000 rupees each to 36 civil servants working under Security Forces (West).
The event unfolded with an interactive session of all ranks amidst the celebration of the New Year and finally, to conclude the event; the Commander of Security Forces (West) addressed the troops who were present at this occasion and wished everyone a prosperous New Year.
