On the instructions of the Commander of the Army and under the directions of the Commander, Security Force Headquarters (West) Major General W H K S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, with the guidance given by the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division Major General K A W N H Bandaranayake USP, and close supervision of the Commander 144 1nfantry Brigade, Brig K D L C Wijenayake RWP RSP USP troops of 144 Infantry Brigade under the Security Force (West) launched a special dengue prevention programme, covering Gothatuwa, Kotikawththa, and Mulleriyawa public Health Medical areas in order to avoid possibilities for any outbreak of the epidemic on 11 Nov 2023.
This programme was also attended by Health Medical Officer - Gothatuwa, 10 x Public Health Inspectors and in addition 1 x 10 Army personnel of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry actively contributed to make this programme a success. Thereby, about 150 houses have been inspected and measures were taken immediately to destroy dengue mosquito breeding places.
