Major General KMV Kodithuwakku ndu, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division, made his first official visit to the 143 Infantry Brigade and its under-command battalions, the 1st Battalion, Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (1 SLAPC), and the 9th Battalion, Gamunu Watch (9 GW), on 09 May 2026.
The General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by the Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade, located in Pelawaththa, Mathugama together with Senior Officers and troops. Thereafter, the Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade, conducted a comprehensive briefing on the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Subsequently, the General Officer Commanding visited the 1st Battalion, Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (1 SLAPC), which is co-located with the 143 Infantry Brigade. During the visit, the General Officer Commanding planted a sapling in the camp premises and addressed the troops.
Thereafter, the General Officer Commanding visited the 9th Battalion, Gamunu Watch (9 GW), located in Yatadolawatta. In honour of the visit, the General Officer Commanding was accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of 9 GW. He also addressed the troops during the visit. The day’s events concluded with the General Officer Commanding expressing his appreciation to the Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade, and the Commanding Officers of the under-command battalions.
