The General Officer Commanding of 16 Infantry Division Major General LD Perera RWP RSP USP undertook an official visit to Headquarters 162 Infantry Brigade and its under-command battalions on 07 May 2026.
Upon arrival, the General Officer Commanding was warmly welcome by the Brigade Commander of 162 Infantry Brigade at the main entrance and was accorded a Guard Turnout in accordance with military traditions.
Thereafter, the General Officer Commanding planted a sapling in the camp premises, symbolizing growth and sustainability. This was followed by the Brigade Commander’s briefing and an address to the troops by the General Officer Commanding.
Subsequently, the General Officer Commanding visited the President’s House at Bentota, A coy of 20 SLLI located in Pitigala, Headquarters 20 SLLI at Boossa as well as B and C coy of 2 (V) GW deployment in Walahanduwa and finally the Headquarters of 2 (V) GW located at Galle Fort.
At the conclusion of the day’s itinerary the General Officer Commanding placed his remarks in the Visitors Books expressing his appreciation for the steadfast commitment and professionalism demonstrated by the Brigade Commander and all ranks in maintaining high standards of efficiency of work and military discipline.
