Inter Regiment Netball Team Championship - 2023 was held at the Panagoda Army Indoor Stadium. The Commander Security Forces (West) Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc grace the finals as the Chief Guest at 1500 hrs on 22 September 2023.
The championship tournament was competed by 6 Netball teams, including 1 team of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) , 1 x team of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC), 1 x team of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP),1 x team of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC), and 2 x teams of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC) respectively.
The day’s Chief Guest was welcomed by Brigadier J.K.R. Jayakody RWP RSP Centre Commandant, SLAWC before the day’s proceedings got to a start with singing of the Army song and observance of the two-minute silence for War Heroes before the brief welcome speech was delivered.
The finals were played between the SLAWC’s ‘A’ team and the SLAWC’s ‘B’ team amid cheers and applause. At the end, SLAWC’s ‘A’ carried away the Championship after a neck-to-neck encounter scored the victory to 28/16 qualifying to claim the Championship for the year. The Commander Security Forces (West) extended congratulations and gave away the Championship trophy and other merit awards for the winning teams.
Director Sports Brigadier P.A.M. Peiris RSP USP psc , Centre Commandant Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps Brigadier J.K.R. Jayakody RWP RSP, Senior Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the final match.
