Major General L D Perera RWP RSP USP assumed duties as the 22nd General Officer Commanding of the16 Infantry Division on 02 May 2026, amidst religious observances and military formalities at the Divisional Headquarters.
Upon arrival, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by the Brigade Commanders and Staff Officers of the Division. He was accorded a Guard Turnout, followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the 9th Battalion, Sri Lanka Singha Regiment.
Subsequently, General Officer Commanding addressed all ranks of the Division, outlining his vision and expectations for the future.
The day’s proceedings concluded with an All-Ranks tea, marking the successful assumption of duties.
