WELIHINDA, SRI LANKA – November 28, 2025 – In a swift and decisive emergency operation, Sri Lanka Army troops rescued 15 civilians stranded by rapidly rising floodwaters in the Welihinda area on Saturday.
The rescue team, comprising personnel from the 6th Sri Lanka Artillery (6 SLA), safely evacuated 14 adults and one child. The operation was executed without incident, and no injuries were reported among the rescued individuals. The timely intervention by the Army minimised further risk to the affected residents as adverse weather conditions continued to impact the region.
