ELAPATHA, SRI LANKA – [28 Nov 2025] – In a swift and successful rescue operation, troops of 61 Inf Div, 572 Inf Bde, 11 GW evacuated four civilians who were stranded by rapidly rising floodwaters in the Elapatha area.
The individuals had become trapped on the upper floor of their two-story house as flood conditions worsened, cutting off their escape routes. Upon receiving the alert, the army unit responded immediately, deploying to the location to conduct the evacuation.
Demonstrating professionalism and efficiency, the troops successfully brought all four civilians to safety. No injuries were reported during the operation.
This timely intervention by the 11 GW provided critical relief to the affected family and highlights the Sri Lanka Army's ongoing role as a first responder, committed to protecting lives and ensuring public safety during natural disasters.
