A request made by the Disaster Management Center - Puttalam, troops of 1st Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard were deployed to assist Puttalam Base Hospital in secure essential medical equipment and hospital supplies due to rising water levels caused by continuous heavy rains in the area.
The request was facilitated by the 57 Infantry Division under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding and supervision of the Commander of 573 Infantry Brigade, the Commanding Officer and 01 x 15 troops of the 1st Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard assisted dedicatedly to shift valuable medical items and essential stores to secure locations within the hospital premises, ensuring the uninterrupted continuation of medical services.
The timely response once again highlighted the continued commitment of the Sri Lanka Army in supporting civil authorities during emergency situations and natural disasters.
