The Commander Security Forces (West) Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, made an official visit to 61 Infantry Division Headquarters and its under-command Brigades and Battalions on 19 February 2024 respectively.
The visiting Commander who was honored with a Guard Turnout at the 61 Infantry Division Headquarters was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers at their esteemed locations. Thereby, comprehensive briefings on role and tasks and the present situation of the respective AOR were done by General Officer Commanding and also the Brigade Commanders of respective Brigades with the participation of their Commanding Officers. Meanwhile, the Commander Security Forces (West) was visited 612 Infantry Brigade, 613 Infantry Brigade.
Addressing the troops during this visit, West Commander emphasized discipline, effective man management, and security measures and how to perform duties in this present scenario. As well as he appreciated the commitment of troops who rendered their potential service in the past and present scenarios.
The General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General R A J N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, Brigade Commanders, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Forces (West), and several Staff Officers of 61 Infantry Division accompanied the West Commander during the visit.
