Following the sponsorship received from Mrs. Thushari Ranaweera, who is currently working as the Deputy General Manager under Legal Branch of HNB and Mrs. Korathota, one of the retired officials of NDB, a stock of school items with sanitary items, including excise books, stationaries, bags and shoes etc, worth Rs 100,000.00 has been donated in parallel to the new school term, among eight needy students belonging to three families who are studying at D S Senanayake College, Karuwalagaswewa-Puttalam on 8 January 2023 in Karuwalagaswewa area.
This project has been coordinated and organized by the Army personnel of 16 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment on the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division, Major General J M R N K Jayamanna RWP together with the close supervision of the commander, 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T M F Kitchilan RWP RSP and the Commanding Officer of 16 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment, Major S A D P Jayarathne USP psc, under the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP.
Further, the beneficiaries for the project had been selected by 16 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment in cooperation with the Principal of the school. In addition, Army personnel of 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment made separate arrangement to be admitted several children from the Karuwalagaswewa area to D.S. Senanayake College - Karuwalagaswewa under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment.
The Commanding Officer of 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment, Officers, sponsors and Other Ranks participated in the day’s event.
