A special week-long Dengue Prevention Programme, launched by the Security Forces (West) following the coordination done by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander Security Forces (West) on the instructions of the Commander of the Army in addition to the ongoing projects.
The Programme was started at the morning (1) at the MOH office near the Sugathadasa Stadium at Colombo 13 and it will be continued till next Saturday (8).
25 Separate teams made up of 200 Army personnel, 25 policemen and 25 Public Health Inspectors joined hands together with the intention of identifying and eradicating the epidemic firstly in worst-affected Mattakkuliya area which has a dense population.
The 25 teams separately moved into affected crow island at Mattakkuliya area and searched 1250 premises.
The inauguration of the programme took place around 7.00 a.m. this morning in the presence of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander Security Forces (West), Senior Army Officers, Senior Police Officers, Medical Officer of Health, Health Ministry officials and Colombo Municipal Council representatives.
