61 INFANTRY DIVISION’S SOCIAL SERVICE TO THE SAMBODHI CHILDREN’S/ ELDERLY HOME AT GALLE

As a special part of the series of programs being carried out by the 61 Infantry Division to mark the 17th anniversary of its establishment, a special program covering 50 special needs residents of the Sambodhi Children’s/ Elderly Home at Galle was carried out by the troops on 27th and 28th May 2025 under the guidance of the current General Officer Commanding, Major General Tiral De Silva RSP ndu psc.

First, the troops of the Division removed the garbage and other waste that had accumulated over a long period of time through “Shramadana” programme. Then cleaned the area and all the occupied buildings. Finally repaired the electrical system.

Next day all the residents, both adults and children, were given haircuts, baths, and medical treatment for those in need of medical treatment. After that, calypso music was played to provide a refreshing experience to their monotonous daily routine. After that, a delicious lunch and dessert were served to all of them.
