In line with World Environment Day, observed on 05 June 2025, the 57 Infantry Division, together with troops from the 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, organized a cleaning and tree planting programme at Batalegoda Lake and its surrounding areas.
The programme was initiated under the directives of the Commander, Security Forces - West, Major General U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, and conducted under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 57 Infantry Division, Major General K D M L Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc.
A total of 5 x 50 officers and soldiers actively contributed to the success of this environmental initiative. In addition, local civilians, officials from the Ibbagamuwa Divisional Secretariat, Grama Niladhari officers from the respective GN divisions, and personnel from the Gokarella Police Station also participated in this noble endeavor.
The programme commenced at 0900 hours and continued throughout the day.
