NEW GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF 57 INFANTRY DIVISION MAKES FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT TO 571 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Major General R P S Prasad RWP RSP USP, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding of the 57 Infantry Division, made his first official visit to the 571 Infantry Brigade and its under-command battalions, the 16th Battalion, Gajaba Regiment (16 GR) and the 9th Battalion, Sri Lanka National Guard (9 SLNG), on 07 May 2026.

Upon arrival at the Headquarters 571 Infantry Brigade, the General Officer Commanding was warmly received by the Commander, 571 Infantry Brigade, along with Senior Officers and troops. In honour of the visit, the General Officer Commanding was accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of the Brigade.

During the visit, the Brigade Commander conducted a comprehensive briefing on the Area of Responsibility (AOR), covering the operational, administrative and security aspects relevant to the Brigade and its under-command battalions.

The General Officer Commanding also visited the 16th Battalion, Gajaba Regiment and the 9th Battalion, Sri Lanka National Guard, where he interacted with Officers and Other Ranks, appreciating their dedication, professionalism and commitment towards the discharge of duties.

The visit marked an important occasion in strengthening command, coordination and operational readiness within the 571 Infantry Brigade and its under-command battalions
