On 13 May 2026, continuous heavy rainfall in the Puttalam area caused a tree fall across the Puttalam – Anuradhapura main road near the Puttalam STF Camp, obstructing traffic movement.
Following a request for assistance, the 57 Infantry Division responded promptly under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding and the supervision of the Commander 573 Infantry Brigade.
Troops of the 573 Infantry Brigade were immediately deployed to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the troops successfully removed the fallen tree, ensuring the safety and convenience of road users.
