On the instructions of His Excellency the President and under the guidance of the Commander of the Army and the Commander of the Security Forces (West), the “Husmen Husmak” Viruthu Sevana Tree Plantation Programme was implemented in the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara Districts under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division, Major General K. M. V. Kodithuwakku ndu and the Commanders of the 141, 142, and 143 Infantry Brigades.
The programme was conducted with the participation of Army and Police personnel, officials of government institutions, relatives of martyred war heroes, and clergies representing all faiths. The initiative aimed to commemorate the sacrifices made by war heroes who laid down their lives for the freedom of the mother Lanka, as well as the Sri Lankan citizens who lost their lives due to Cyclone Ditwah.
Accordingly, the 141 Infantry Brigade conducted the programme at Basnagoda in Attanagalla, Gampaha District, while the 142 Infantry Brigade carried out the programme in the Panaluwa area. Meanwhile, the 143 Infantry Brigade conducted the programme at the premises of the 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (1 SLAPC) in Pelawatte on 22 May 2026 in a grand and dignified manner.
