14th COMMANDER 161 INFANTRY BRIGADE ASSUMES DUTIES

Colonel PWRWMJRBW Pallekumbura assumed duties as the 14th Commander of the 161 Infantry Brigade on 29 May 2026 at the Brigade Headquarters in Thunkama, Embilipitiya. He was formally welcomed by Brigade Staff Officers and Commanding Officers of 11 Gemunu Watch and 18 Sri Lanka National Guard. The ceremony included a guard turnout, the signing of official documents amid religious blessings, and the planting of a sapling to mark the occasion. A briefing by the Brigade Major followed to familiarise him with the Brigade’s current tasks and area of responsibility.

In his address to the troops, Colonel Pallekumbura emphasised his vision for achieving organisational goals as a unified team. The day concluded with an All-Ranks tea, during which he interacted with personnel from the under-command battalions, strengthening camaraderie among all ranks.
