Troops of the 10 (V) Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) of the 142 Brigade under the 14 Division of the of the Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) offered their manpower for construction of the dagoba at Kudalawila Thunthana Buddhist Centre in Hanwella area. It was opened to the devotees on Saturday (9) during a special religious ceremony.

Alert Army troops of the 16 Gajaba Regiment (GR) of the 143 Brigade of Colombo-based 14 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) Wednesday (23) evening hurried to flood-threatened Moriyakulama area in Karuwalagaswewa and prevented any imminent complete burst of the bank of Moriyakulama agricultural canal by stacking as many sand bags as possible, atop most vulnerable patches.

As per the directions of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage, hundreds of troops have been deployed in the vulnerable areas to provide relief and engage in rescue operations, if necessary in the wake of worsening weather conditions due to heavy rains in the past few days.

Symbolizing the initial commencement of this year’s Vesak celebrations on Vesak Full Moon Poayaday (April 29) troops of the Security Force (West) at Panagoda Army Cantonment together with the members of the Army Buddhist Association held a full day “Sil” observance programme at Panagoda Sri Bodhirajarama Temple with the participation of Commander SF (West) Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage. There were more than 5000 devotees participated for this “Sil” programme and “Bodhi Poojawa” was held in the evening.

The newly appointed Commander Security Forces -West Major General SDT Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc made his formal visit to the 143 Brigade AOR, on Tuesday 13 Mar 18.
Troops of 16 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment presented a Guard Turnout to the new Commander Security Forces -West at the arrival of the headquarters 143 Brigade and the Commander SF- West was warmly welcomed by Brigadier LSP Perera USP Commander143 Brigade. During the visit he visited B Coy of 16th Battalion Gajaba Regiment at Voice of America Premises,Iranawilla.
