HISTORY
- This battalion was raised on 1st Dec 2007 as 16(v) Sri Lanka Light Infantry and attached to the 57 division for humanitarian operation.
- After humanitarian operation on 19 May 2009, this Battalion was released from 57 Division and deployed at Maruthanagar junction on 29th June 2009 under 571 Brigade. Finally the Battalion was deployed at present location on 18th Jan 2010 repairing some buildings used by ltte.
- During the humanitarian operation two officers and nine ors sacrificed their lives for the mother land and 62 soldiers were wounded.
