14TH NATIONAL TUG OF WAR CHAMPIONSHIP

14th National Tug of War Championship organized by National Tug of War Federation together with Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi was conducted at Kilinochchi Central College ground from 0830 hours to 1830 hours on 25 February 2018 and 14 numbers of under mentioned Tug of War Teams were participated for the tournament.

a. Sri Lanka Army (Male/Female)

b. Sri Lanka Navy (Male/Female)

c. Sri Lanka Air Force (Male/Female)

d. Sri Lanka Police (Male/ Female)

e. Civil Security Department - Kilinochchi (Female)

f. Vavuniya Sports Club (Male/ Female)

g. Dambell Sports Club - Pugoda (Male)

h. Freedam Sports Club - Horana (Male)

i. Batticaloa Sports Club (Male)

Following teams won the tournament under following weight class.

Male (under 640kg weight class)

(1) Winner - Sri Lanka Army

(2) Runner up - Sri Lanka Navy

(3) Second Runner up - Sri Lanka Police

Female (under 540kg weight class)

(1) Winner - Sri Lanka Navy

(2) Runner up - Sri Lanka Army

(3) Second Runner up - Sri Lanka Air Force

General Office Commanding of 57 Division - Major General Vijitha Ravipriya graced the event as chief guest of the event and General Office Commanding of 55 Division, Brigadier Jayantha Gunaratne and Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters Kilinochchi Brigadier Jagath Ratnayake also attend the event with the Chief Guest.

Further, following officials from Tug of War Federation also participated the event as the guest of honours.

c. Project Officer - Ministry of Sports - Mr. Hemantha Bandara.

e. Additional Secretary of Tug of War Federation - Mr. Wickramasinghe.
