3rd BATTALION OF GAJABA REGIMENT TEAM SECURE THE INTER BATTALIONS VOLLEYBALL TROPHY IN SECURITY FORCES - KILINOCHCHI
The annual Inter Battalions Volleyball Tournament of the Security Forces Kilinochchi which was organized by the 574 Brigade concluded on 23 March 2016 at the Harmony Volleyball Court Complex, Mankulam.\r\n\r\n Total no of 32 Army teams and 04 teams from civil clubs took part in the tournament, which was held from 12 March 2016 to 23 March 2016. 3rd Gajaba Regiment team and 11th Gajaba Regiment team had their encounter from the Army teams while Ponnagar Pudiyaolil volleyball team and Barathipuram Adavan team qualified for the finals from the civil sector.\r\n\r\n After close encounter, 3rd Gajaba Regiment Volleyball team and Ponnagar Pudiyaolil team of the civil sector were emerged as champions. Sergeant Medawaththa, Lance Corporal Medagedara, Lance Corporal Vidharshana were selected and awarded as the best passer, best attacker and best player respectively. Vigneshwaran Maran was awarded as the best player from the civil teams.\r\n\r\n In the women’s sector, it was the Mulaitivu Youth Club team which emerged as champions after beating the team of 6 Sri Lanka Women’s Corps. Vidusha Dusyandan was awarded as the best player of the tournament.\r\n\r\n Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander of Secuirty Forces Kilinochchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The trophies and certificates were given away by the Chief Guest to the winning and runners up teams both Army and Civil matches.\r\n
