57 INFANTRY DIVISION HAS CONDUCTED AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ‘ORGANIC FERTILIZERS’

In line with the national requirement of increasing the organic fertilizer production, 57 Infantry Division has launched organic fertilizers production projects as per the guidance of Commander - Security Forces (Kilinochchi) Major General Harendra Ranasinghe and General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardana. To assist the aforesaid requirement, 571 Infantry Brigade has organized an awareness lecture regarding ‘Organic Fertilizers’. The lecture was conducted by Mr. S Wijayan Agriculture Instructor Officer, at Office of the Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture, Kilinochchi. The lecture was conducted at 571 Infantry Brigade conference hall with the participation of Civil Affairs Officers, COs and IOs of all under command establishments with adhering all Covid 19 precaution methods.

Futher, the lecturer enlightened the process of manufacturing of high quality organic fertilizers. In addition, the lecturer educated on the methods to get high quality products by using organic fertilizer. Further he educated all Brigades and Battalions regarding manufacturing of high quality organic fertilizers, the soil condition and suitable crops for Northern province, applicable amount of organic fertilizers requirement for 1 acre, correct method of using organic fertilizers for crops, natural way of controlling weeds and suitable irrigation for cultivation.
