66 DIVISION TROOPS TAKE LEAD IN PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE FOR NEEDY CIVILIANS IN POONERYN AREA

As a step forward to regular community services, a Medical clinic was organized and conducted for civilians in by the 66 Infantry Division. The clinic was held at Pooneryn Central College on 02 Sep 2018, which facilitated area 1000 civilians.

In the initial process registration of the patients conducted with the assistance of troops along with the Staff of RDHS (Regional Director Health Services) - Kilinochchi. The Clinic commenced at 0900 hrs after the arrival of General Officer Commanding - 66 Infantry Division, Brigadier Deepthi Jayathilake, Senior Officers along with visiting doctors. The team of visiting doctors were comprised with Consultant physician, Consultant Dermatologist, Consultant Pediatrician, Dental Surgeon, Eye Surgeon. During the event Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi, Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana paved a visit to encourage the organizing team and had an informal discussion with beneficiaries resource personnel.

In addition to the provision of Medical assistance programs included with health education counseling sessions for nutritionist Midwives and PHIs. Un-tiring commitment was shown by the doctors and the staff headed by Prof Anula Wijesundara the amount the entice clinc.

Lunch provided for all participants by the 66 Infantry Division. The civilians perfect their gratitude towards the Army and doctors. The event was terminated successfully, achieving the expected goal of providing health services to the civilians around. It paved the way to opening roads for much needed effort area reconciliation process of the country.
