ARMY FACILITATES FREE DISTRIBUTION OF ARTIFICIAL LIMBS TO KILINOCHCHI CIVILIANS

Many children and young adults in Northern Province either lose limbs or are born without them. This can either be due to the accidents or that have come about as a result of landmines which have been left behind after the civil war. \r\n\r\nSecurity Forces Kilinochchi together with the Centre for the Handicapped - Kandy inaugurate free distribution of limbs among low income needy persons in Kilinochchi area. As the first stage of the programme taking measurement of selected 30 disable persons were taken place on 15 July 2016 at Harmony Centre - Kilinochchi. Limbs are provided free of charge to those who are unable to pay for them.\r\n\r\nOn the invitation and direction of Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Head of the Centre for the Handicapped Dr. S S Aththanayake and his team conducted this programme for peoples who in need of Kilinochchi area. The aim of the Centre for the Handicapped was leaving needy people with fresh hope who already despaird due to disability. Then they will return to their schools, families and places of employment with mobility restored.\r\n\r\nLieutenant Colonel Thusitha Silva, Chief Coordinator Civil Affairs - Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi and military personnel attended this charity programme.
