COMMEMORATING 7TH ANNIVERSARY OF SECURITY FORCES KILINOCHCHI
The countdown to the commemoration of the 7th Anniversary of Security Forces Kilinochchi inaugurated giving prominence to the religious observances of all four major denominations under the guidance of the Major General Amal Karunasekara RSP VSV USP ndu psc Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi. Security Forces Kilinochchi established on 29 June 2009, after the victory of humanitarian operation to ensure the security of the whole Kilinochchi district.\r\n\r\nAnniversary events inaugurated on 24 June 2016 at the Security Forces Headquarters’ premises, comprising with overnight pirith chanting programme and offering alms and atapirikara to Maha Sangha at the next morning. At the end of the religious programme, approbation merits to war heroes, those who scarified their lives for the sake of the motherland.\r\n\r\nOn 26 June 2016, 35 of Officers and Other Ranks donated their blood to District Hospital – Kilinochchi in parallel to Anniversary. Hindu religious observances at Sri Kanakambigai Kovil and Islamic pray session at Jumma Mosque Kilinochchi and a special mass at St.Theresha Roman Catholic Church in Kilinochchi were taken place and invocation blessing to the flag conducted on 27 June 2016.\r\n\r\nThe climax at the commemorative ceremonies to coincide with the 7th anniversary of Security Forces Kilinochchi. The Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi is accorded military salutes in a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honor at Headquarters premises on 29 June 2016 and the soldiers those who were affected by landslide at Aranayake, were offered monetary assistance by the Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi. Further, tree planting programme and all ranks lunch were taken place on the same day.\r\n\r\nAt the final event of the commemorative ceremonies, a musical show was held on 30 June 2016 to rise up the enthusiasm and enjoyment of Officers and Other Ranks in Security Forces Headquarters’ Kilinochchi.\r\n\r\nCommander Forward Maintenance Area – Kilinochchi, General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders and Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks, Civil Staff serving in Security Forces Headquarters’ Kilinochchi attended this Anniversary events.\r\n
