COORDINATING CONFERENCE WITH GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL AND VILLAGERS

According to a concept of the General Officer Commanding 65 Division Major General DMHD Bandara RWP RSP USP, under the supervision of the Commander 653 Brigade, 17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry was organized CIMIC conference on 11 August 2020 at the HQ premises of 17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Alankulam. Main aim of this conference was to enhance the interpersonal coordination between government authorities, villagers and Army in order to assist the relevant authorities in ensuring the security of the area, maintaining the low and order and uplift the living standard of the people.

General Officer Commanding 65 Division was headed the conference and Commander 653 Brigade, CO 17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Divisional secretary of Thunukkai, Medical Officer of Base hospital - Mallavi, Ayurveda medical officer of Ayurveda medical center - Yogapuram, Chief Engineer of irrigation Department - Vavunikulam, Chief public health inspector of mallavi, Officer in charge of police station - Mallavi, Principals of Mallavi central college and Therankandal G.T.M School, Managers of all government/ private banks in Mallavi, all GSs available in the Bn AOR and many other relevant government authorities including civilians in the area were participated to the meeting. Discussion was very fruitful and it was mainly focused regarding illegal activities and the drug smuggling which was increasing in area. The participants made valuable contribution sharing their views and proposals to prevention of illegal activities and drug smuggling in order to ensure the security and the harmony in the area.
