The sudden fire broke out at central market Kilinochchi town at around 2115 hrs on 16 Sep 2016 and approximately 62 shops and stalls were severely damaged including no of trade, fancy items and fruits shops. As per the requested made by the Kilinochchi police station, fire was brought under control within two hours by the troops of 57 Division.\r\n\r\nFurther, 57 Division managed to control the spreading of fire despite prevailed Strong windy condition by using Army fire extinguish equipment. According to the speedy reaction of the Army more than 250 shops and stalls were recovered from the fire. No lives lost pertaining to the incident but two civilians were admitted to the Killinochchi Base Hospital due to minor injuries. The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.\r\n
