With the direction given by the Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda ndc IG, 9 Field Engineer Regiment provided machinery and the man power to clear the land area around the University premises in Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi approximately 10,000 Sqm during 17 to 23 August 2020.
This programme got underway in response to a request made by Prof. K. Kandasamy the Vice Chancellor - University of Jaffna, as a security measure for the protection of university staff and students, as the urgency of implementing the safety measures has been needed to a great extent after the incident of a lady lecturer was died after being attacked by a wild elephant at University premises in July this year.
This programme was conducted to enhance the mutual relations among university staff/students and the military personnel in Kilinochchi area. At the end of the project the Vice Chancellor-University of Jaffna highly appreciated the military assistance and extended their gratitude to the Army.
