NEEDY FAMILY IN POONARYN GETS A NEW HOUSE, BUILT BY 24 VIR TROOPS

To be in line with the Army Commander's directive, 24 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the SFHQ-Kilinochchi, on the instructions of the Commander Security Forces, Kilinochchi, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe erected one more new house for needy family in Maduwilnadu, Kilinochchi and vested to in the family on 16 July 2021.

The community project, aimed at promoting gestures of reconciliation, goodwill and harmony was completed by 24 VIR troops under the supervision of the Commanding Officer Major SHS Kumarasinghe USP psc. In addition to their construction expertise, the same battalion troops were generous enough to donate a stock of essential provisions and household items for the family of Mr. Ramanadan Maniwaththan Maduwilnadu, Kilinochchi area, a needy family deserved for a shelter.

In keeping with Hindu traditions, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi as the Chief Guest, together with the Divisional Secretary Poonaryn, General Officer Commanding of the 66 Infantry Division Major General Ajith Dissanayaka, Commander 663 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Subashan Liyanagama, OIC Police Station Poonaryn and other Ranks who accomplished the project unveiled a plaque on the house and vested it in the beneficiaries amidst simple rites and rituals. The arrangement got underway adhering to all COVID-19 preventive measures.
