POONARYN STUDENTS GET FREE EDUCATIONAL ACCESSORIES
Having lost so much, the poorest families struggled to meet their basic needs - and finding the money for school supplies for was beyond their means. Some children had to leave school and work to help meet household expenses. Others struggled to replace books, school bags and stationary destroyed by flood waters, making it hard to keep up with their studies. With this objective, 661 Brigade of the Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi coordinated the free distribution of school accessories to 96 students in Vinasiyodei Vidyalaya - Poonaryn during a ceremony on 05 December 2016.\r\n\r\nThe stock of school bags, stationeries and school uniforms donated by the National Tourist Guide Lecture Association and Kind Heart Association and associates was worth Rs.2.3 Lakhs. With direction of Major General Amal Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi, the donation programme was initiated by the Colonel Kithsiri Ekanayake WWV RWP RSP psc Commander - 661 Brigade.\r\n\r\nLieutenant Colonel Senarathne Bandara, Civil Affairs Officer - 661 Brigade, Major Chaminda Gunarathne, Commanding Officer - 15 (V) VIR, Mr V Gunasekara and Mr S Dissanayake from Kind Heart Associations, Mr. T S Ibraheem - National Tourist Guide Lecture Association, Mr S Udayabavan, Principal of the school, Teachers, Students and Parents were present the occasion.\r\n
