SCHOOL ACCESSORIES DONATED TO STUDENTS OF LOW INCOME GROUPS IN KILINOCHCHI

As per the concept of Commander Security Force - Kilinochchi, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, 300 school students of low income families in Kilinochchi district were donated school books and bags and other educational instruments on 17th February 2018 at the Nelum Piyasa Auditorium. This donation was provided by the Buddhist Society of the People’s Bank. Mr Preethi Kollonnage, General Secretary, People’s Bank Buddhist Society Main Branch Colombo, together with members of the People’s Bank Buddhist Society gifted school accessories to school children in Kilinochchi.

Those donated accessories included with exercise and drawing books, mathematical instruments and other educational tools with school bags which are expensive in the public market. At the final and most appreciative segment of this charity programme was opening new “Sisu Udana” bank accounts for all those recipients. The proprietor of Guru Hardware in Kilinochchi and the manager of people's bank in Kilinochchi provided necessary monitory funds to open those 'Sisu Udana' accounts.

Commander Security Force – Kilinochchi Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana graced the occasion as chief guest along with Mr Preethi Kollonnage, General Secretary of People’s Bank. General Officer Commanding – 65 Division Major General Sarath Weerawardhana, Lahiru Senarathna - Treasurer of People’s Bank Buddhist Society, Praveen Mahesha and Ryan Sampath Kalubovila - Committee Members of People’s Bank Buddhist Society, Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Force – Kilinochchi participated for the distribution ceremony.
