Chief Incumbent of Sri Maha Bodhi Viharaya - Kolonnawa, Venerable Borelle Kovida Thero and donors show their kindness and consideration towards school children of low income family studying in Kiranchchi -Pooneryn and gave away a large stock of stationeries including sanitary items on Monday (26). \r\n\r\nThis charity programme was organized by the 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard with the supervision and direction of Brigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana RSP ndu psc General Officer Commanding - 66 Division. \r\n\r\nEach pack of those gift items, worth Rs. 1500.00 was distributed among 200 students during this brief ceremony.\r\n\r\nBrigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana RSP ndu psc General Officer Commanding - 66 Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest together with Venerable Borelle Kovida Thero, Commander 663 Brigade, Brigadier C D Weerasooriya RWP RSP, Maj DA Ahamed RSP - Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, senior military officers, other government administrative representatives, parents and school teachers were presented. \r\n\r\nMeanwhile, Christmas carol programmes were conducted on 21 December 2016 at Pooneryn Church and on 22 December 2016 at Valaipadu Church under the guidance of General Officer commanding - 66 Division , 661 Brigade, 663 Brigade, Rev Farthers and students along with their parents and around 1200 participants of village also took part the occasion.
