The annual Katina Pinkama of the Sri Sugatha Viharaya in Mankulam was elegantly held with the assistance of the Security Forces - Kilinochchi 28th and 29th October 2016.\r\n\r\nMajor General Amal Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi together with Brigadier Anura Sudasinghe USP IG, General Officer Commanding - 57 Division, Colonel Chandana Somaweera RWP RSP USP, Commander - 574 Brigade also attended to the event, which took place under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent of the Sri Sugatha Viharaya Ven. Higurankande Sumana Thera.\r\n\r\n574 Brigade with under command battalions conducted Bodhi Pooja Pinkama in the temple premises marking the commencement of the religious activities on 28 October. The “Katina Cheevaraya”, offered to the resident monks on conclusion, was taken to the temple in a colourful procession and was on displayed for the devotees to worship on 29th morning.\r\n\r\nThe Chief Incumbent of the Nagadeepa Purana Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Mailagaswewa Ariyakiththi Thera, along with other residential and guest monks gathered to the temple premises to commence the event. Further, Ven. Mailagaswewa Ariyakiththi Thera briefly described the significance of the ‘Katina’ offering and explained the importance and the value of participating in such events. Subsequently, the complete ‘Katina Cheevara’ was offered to Maha Sangha who gathered at Dana Shala by devotees lead by Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi followed by Sanghika Dana was offered to Maha Sangha who were present for this once a year great meritorious event.\r\n\r\nSenior Military Officers, Police Officers and Other Ranks were also present at the meritorious event conducted by the Security Forces - Kilinochchi as a continuation of its assistance to the Mankulam temple.
