SEVERAL SPORTS GAMES OF THE 2016 CONLUDED IN SECURITY FORCES KILINOCHCHI
As per the direction of the Major General K A D A Karunasekara RSP VSV USP ndu psc Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi and according to his concept of uplifting the mental stability and endurance as well as sport capability of soldiers, Basketball, Squash and Badmintons games were held at indoor and outdoor courts at Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi premises on 12 July 2016. \r\n\r\nThe Basketball tournament was organized by 573 Brigade and 1st Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment twenty no of men teams from various unit in Security Forces - Kilinochchi area and two women teams from 6 (V) Sri Lanka Women’s Corps were contested and final game was held between the 3rd Battalion Gajaba Regiment and 7th Sri Lanka Army Service Corps teams and 7th Sri Lanka Army Service Corps became the champion and 3rd Battalion Gajaba Regiment emerged as runner - up. The Squash tournament was organized by 24th Gemunu Watch Regiment and 9 teams competed for the championship. In the final game, 57 Division and 24th Gemunu Watch Regiment teams competed with each other and 57 Division team won the trophy. On the same day, Badminton tournament also held at Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi which was organized by 653 Brigade and 10th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment. The 57 Division team and 10th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment team were selected for final out of 20 teams and after a close encounter 10th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment became the winner of the trophy.\r\n\r\nBrigadier H D W Kariyawasam USP, Commander of Forward Maintanance Area - Kilinochchi graced the occasion as the chief guest and gave away certificates and trophies to the winning teams. General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and many spectators witness the tournaments. \r\n
