SFHQ KILINOCHCHI TROOPS ASSISTED CIVILIANS DURING 'BUREVI'

Troops of the Security Force Kilinochchi were continuously supported the victimized civilians during the cyclone 'Burevi' which went across Kilinochchi area as per the directions given by the Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda under supervision of General Officer Commanding of 66 Infantry Division Major General Jagath Koddothuwakku and General Officer Commanding of 57 Infantry Division Major General Sujeewa Senarath yapa.

6 SLSR troops serving under the 57 Infantry Division provided hot meals and dry ration for flood affected families in Periyakulam and Kattakadu areas. Meantime they supported a family for remove a fallen tree on the roof of their house in Vishwamadu area.

Meanwhile, 14 SLNG troops in the 572 Infantry Brigade also cleared the Punnaniravi Thirimanthal Aru road by repairing a culvert.

Similarly, 9 VIR troops in the 573 Infantry Brigade Repaired damaged the tank bund in the general area of Matadakulam due to torrential rains and cyclonic weather.

At the onset of the cyclonic weather, troops of the 5(V) MIR took steps to move 04 families of 17 members to safe places in Pathimatha Church and provided meals as well.

Similarly, 11(V) GR troops in the 663 Infantry Brigade repaired a drainage system beside of the Nachchikuda to Kumalamunei Road with the support of civilian.

During this period all battalions were on standby to respond for any emergency situation in this AOR.
