SPECIAL PROGRAMME TO COMMEMORATE WAR HERO CORPORAL GAMINI KULARATNE AT ELEPHANT PASS

It has been spent 27 years since war hero Hasalaka Gamini Kularatne bravely sacrificed his life to save the Elephant Pass Camp from the LTTE and it was the significant and noteworthy events of the history of Sri Lanka Army. If he had not carried out that heroic fate on that day, Elephant Pass camp would be vanished from the history with hundreds of bravely young soldiers.

A special celebration has been organized in commemoration of his sacrifice for the sake of motherland, was held close to Hasalaka Gamini’s statue constructed in Elephant Pass where the place of Gamini sacrificed his life against the LTTE suicide bulldozer.

The ceremony was taken place under the guidance of Commander Security Force - Kilinochchi Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana, with the supervision of General Officer Commanding – 66 Division, Brigadier Deepthi Jayathilaka. Troops under 662 Brigade arranged the said commemorative ceremony according to the direction of Commander, 662 Brigade, Colonel Champika Ranasinghe.

At the commemorative ceremony, all night Pririth chanting ceremony was held in front of the Gamini Kularathna monument on 13 July 2018 and next day morning, Alms - giving were offered to Maha Sangha.

On 14 July 2018 evening, lighted the eternal lamp and during that time vedio clip was played to depict the noble service rendered by Corporal Gamini Kularatne. Commander, Security Force Kilinochchi graced the ceremony as chief guest. Mother of Gamini Kularathna Mrs. S G Juliet and his family members, Senior Officers walked up to the cenotaph and laid floral wreaths, in remembrance of Corporal Gamini Kularatne. Finally, the ‘last post’ was played for the remembrance of the fallen heroes.
