As per the concept of His Excellency President Maithreepala Sirisena to increase the current forest cover of 29% from further to 32% through three years as national program named “WANA ROPA” tree planting programmes are implemented all island in national tree planting month - October. Concurrently to the said national programme, under the guidance of Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi Major General Amal Karunasekara RSP VSV USP ndu psc, planting 1500 tree near Kokavil transmission tower implemented on 27 October 2017.\r\n\r\nThe subjected programme was coordinated by Brigadier General Staff -Security Forces Kilinochchi, Brigadier Jagath Rathnayake RSP USP and troops from 9th Battalion of Sri Lanka Engineers Corps, 9th Battalion of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 6th Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps and 6th Sri Lanka Army Women Corps planted the trees. \r\n\r\nCivil Affairs Officer Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi Lieutenant Colonel M T K R Silva, senior officers and District Forest Officer -Mulatuv Mr. A P A J Bandara, Assistant District Forest officer - Mulatiuv Mr. J U Mahinda and many officers from Forest Department participated to the tree planting programme.
