TROOPS ATTEND TO CLEAN THE COASTAL AT WORLD COASTAL CLEAN UP DAY
A beach cleanup week commencing from 17 September has been declared to mark and energize the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) 2016 Day. This national programme covered the entire coastal stretch round the country. Coastal Clean – up Day is dedicated to the improvement of beaches, coastal region and surrounding areas throughout the world. It purports to be the largest volunteer event in the world, and has operated for over 26 years.\r\n\r\nIn parallel to national programme, Troops of 65 and 66 Division under the Security Forces – Kilinochchi took partaking to clean up coastal areas in Kilinochchi. \r\n\r\nApproximately hundred of military personnels and civilians in the area attended this social work, covering the coastal belt of Vallaipadu, Wettakadu, Kiranchi Shivapuram, Thewanpiddi and Nachchikuda.\r\n\r\nRunning parallel with the main program, several other events will be conducted by Security Forces - Kilinochchi in many places in kilinochchi districts such as awareness programme, sharamadana campaign etc.\r\n
