The Buddhists memorialize the significant life events of Lord Buddha on this Full Moon Poya Day. celebrate the 'Themagula', a “Vesak Zone'' has created at Kilinochchi Central Collage play ground on 29 and 30 April 2018.
Under the guidance of Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana and through the supervision of Division Commanders and Bde comds Senior Officers of Security Forces, the event was delightfully organized by the troops of Security Forces - Kilinochchi, under the theme of' "Peaceful Vesak Asiriya for Kilinochchi people".
As a Main concern among the grand event can be highlighted with displaying of colorful Vesak lanterns, Dansela and Vesak devotional songs (Bakthi Gee).
In the first day of “Kilinochchi Vesak Zone” Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana , Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi and Mr. S Satthiyasilan, Addl District secretry Kilinochchi graced the occasion as the chief guests and declared opened the Vesak zone which was made minds of devotees more religious. More than 10000 peoples were gathered to Kilinochchi playground without religious discrimination.
In the second day, Comd FMA , GOC 66 Division and religious dignitary auspiciously declared opened the “Vesak Zone”. Vesak Asiriya in second day and tasted the dansela devotional songs and wesak lanterns which was offered by the troops and many Hindu devotees also gathered to witness of the event.
Major General Vijitha Ravipriya General Officer Commanding – 57 Division, and Major General Kumara Peiris General Officer Commanding – 65 Division, Brigadier Deepthi Jayatilaka General Officer Commanding – 66 Division, and Brigadier Indrajith Vidyananda Commander Forward Maintenance Area – Kilinochchi were the major organizers of this successful event. Meanwhile, The Sri Lanka Air force and civil security department kilinochchi contributed their fullest support towards the success of this event.
