A solemn and dignified ceremony to commemorate the valor and gallantry of War Heroes who sacrified their lives to enable all of us to live in peace, held on 10 May 2016 morning at War Heroes Monument at Kokavil, Kilinochchi.\r\n\r\nHon. Reginald Cooray, Governor of Northern Province attended as the Chief Guest of the ceremony, paying his deep esteem to the memory of fallen War Heroes and warmly received by Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi.\r\n\r\nMrs Saraswathi Mohanathan, Assistance Chief Secretary of Northern Province Council welcomed the Chief Guest and all the invitees, delivering her speech. Afterward, all observed moment of silence within two minutes for all War Heroes who sacrified their worth lives for the sake of Motherland. As per the tradition, next was religious observances and programme begun. \r\n\r\nHon. Governor Reginald Cooray along with Assistance Chief Secretary of Northern Province Council, Divisional Secretaries of Northern Province, Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi, Commander - Northern Naval Area, Deputy Inspector General of Northern , Director – Rana Viru Seva Authority (RVSA), General Officer Commanding of 55 and 64 Division, Brigadier General Staff – Security Forces Wanni, Commanding Officer Sri Lanka Air Force Base - Iranamadu walked up to the cenotaph and laid floral wreaths, in remembrance of all War Heroes of our times. Next, sounded the Last Post honouring heroes those who were fallen at the war arena. At last, there was rhythmic beaten of traditional Rana Bera.\r\n\r\nBriefly, gathering was addressed by Governor Northern Province reminded everyone about the invaluable service of our fallen War Heroes and distributed book pack for 30 school children in Kilinochchi Central College.
