 Seva Vanitha Ladies Hold ‘Poojas’ in Anuradhapura

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) with the objective of transferring merits and invoking blessings on late War Heroes and serving Army personnel conducted a ‘Kapruk Pooja’ and a ‘Kiri Ahara Pooja’ at Anuradhapura Ruwanweli Maha Seya and Sri Maha Bodhi premises during the weekend (28 - 29 July).

The ASVU President Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, along with members of the executive committee, regimental Seva Vanitha Chairpersons, ‘Abimansala - 1’ inmates, Staff Officer I in the ASVU office and Seva Vanitha staff attended the meritorious programmes.

The sacred Kapruka was taken in procession from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises up to the Ruwanweli Maha Seya before it was offered to the pagoda amid religious observances.

A few minutes later, the ASVU President called on Most Venerable Pallegama Siriniwasa Dhammarakkhitha Thero, Atamastanadhipathi and Chief Sanghanayake of North Central Province and Ven Pallegama Hemarathna Thero, the monk in charge of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya and Chief Sanghanayake of Kandy Sector and received blessings on the Commander of the Army and the organization in general.

The following morning (29), a special milk food (Kiri Ahara) Pooja venerated the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya. A large gathering of Officers and Other Ranks contributed to the programmes.
