All Brigades and Units under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) giving a further fillip to the Army-initiated cultivation programmes, took steps to plant hundreds of mango and coconut saplings inside their compounds on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT).
To begin with, during a simple arrangement on Friday (10), Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, SF-MLT, together with Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier W.D.C.K Costa, Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Colonel E.P Hennadige and a team of Officers and Other Ranks planted 155 mango and 50 coconut saplings in the SFHQ-MLT premises and gave the lead to the project.
Similarly, 150 mango saplings, provided by the SFHQ-MLT to the 64 Division Headquarters in Oddusuddan were planted in three separate demarcated zones by Senior Officers at the 64 Division Headquarters on the same day (10).
Instructors of the Department of Agriculture will follow up the entire cultivation project until those plants grow up fully. Those species of plants include Alponsu and Karthakolomba mangoes. All the Officers and Other Ranks joined the programme.
