New Tennis Court at SFHQ-MLT Complex Vested in Players

Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT) opened the new Tennis Court, constructed inside the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) complex at Mullaittivu on Thursday (22).

Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, SF-MLT on arrival at the venue was received by Brigadier B.P.S De Silva, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-MLT and Colonel E.P Hennadige, Brigadier Administration & Quartering, BAQ-SF-MLT and conducted to the place for inauguration of the new Tennis Court which remained a need for residents and under command formations.

The Chief Guest unveiled a plaque and opened the court symbolically, signalling the start for an exhibition match.

The demonstration matches saw 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 14 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) tennis players shone as Champions in individual categories, winning 1st & 2rd places respectively.

Meanwhile, double demonstration match rounds were also played a little later, in which 14 VIR and 23 VIR players competed against 14 SLSR and 1 SLSC.

Renowned Army tennis player, Coropral U. Gunasekara of the 18 VIR and Lance Bombodier Uthpala Kumara of the 14 SLA representing the Army Tennis Association took part in demonstrative matches.

Prizes to the members of the Army Tennis Association were also awarded by the Commander, SF-MLT on the same occasion.
