Special Christmas Carols Reverberate in Mullaittivu Church

A special Christmas Carols with the participation of school students and Catholic kids in Mullaittivu area got underway at Mullaittivu St Peter’s Church on Wednesday (20), following guidelines given by Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu to the 59 Division Headquarters.

The arrangement was launched with the objective of promoting religious sentiments, reconciliation and goodwill among all ethnicities living in the area. A large gathering of participants, including District Secretary for Mullaittivu, Additional District Secretary for Mullaittivu, Maritimepattu Divisional Secretary, Mullaittivu Director Health Services, Mullaittivu District Wildlife Officer, Mullaittivu Senior Superintendent of Police, tri-service Officers, Police Officers, children and civilians joined the special service and Christmas Carols.

Rev Fr. Anton George of the St Peter’s Church and several members of the clergy were there during the arrangement. Carols were provided music by the Army band. During the same occasion, 59 Division troops as a Christmas gift donated a much-needed piano to the Church. In addition, more than 200 school students attending the service and Carols were gifted with school bags and accessories on the same occasion.
