United Nations Staff Officers Course (UNSOC) No 03 - 2024 sponsored by Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) was conducted from 11 to 27 March 2024 at IPSOTSL with the directions of Major General C A Rajapaksha RSP, the Commandant of Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL). The course consisted with 23 Student Officers from Sri Lanka Army and 03 x Student Officers from Sri Lanka Navy. Further, 07 x foreign Student Officers representing Bangladesh, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, and Indonesia attended the course.

The Panel of Lecturers consisted with 03 Subject Matter Experts (SMEs); Mr. Jens Normen Hahne from Germany, Mr. Jens Winther Anderson from Denmark, Mr. Dev Bahadur Chhetri from Nepal and Assistant Officer Instructor Lt Cdr Mozahidur Rahman Sufi from Bangladesh. In addition to the instructor body of the IPSOTSL, 02 x in-house instructors; Lieutenant Colonel M A A P Perera RWP RSP psc SLLI and Maj M A D Priyadarshana psc SLEME contributed to educated student officers on the staff officers’ duties with real ground experience. Moreover, Lt Col M M A J J Gunawardhana USP psc GR, Maj K H D Mendis USP SLAGSC, and Maj (Dr) W A N C Wijesinghe SLAMC contributed as the visiting lecturers.

The closing ceremony of the course was held at the IPSOTSL on 27 March 2024 and Major General G M N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, the Director General General Staff (overlook), Quarter Master General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment - Sri Lanka Light Infantry graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Major General C A Rajapaksha RSP, the Commandant of IPSOTSL. Major General P K S Nandana RSP USP psc, the Director General Training of the Directorate of Training too attended the ceremony.

Subsequently, he joined for a group photograph with the Commandant, SMEs, Instructors, and Student Officers of the UNSOC along with the staff of IPSOTSL. Later, he visited the camp premises in order to witness the training infrastructure facilities of IPSOTSL and provided important guidance to uplift the standards of infrastructure facilities of the institute.
