Troops at the Regimental centre had a New Year festival organized at the regimental ground on 29th April 2017.Brigadier B A L Ratnayake, Centre Commandant SLSR graced the event as the Chief Guest.The New Year festival got off giving prominence to traditional games and other fun-making events.Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks with their family members serving the RHQ SLSR attended the New Year celebration.

Marking another special day in Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment The Wild Life Resource Conservation donated four months old African lion cub born at Hambantota, titled as the \"3rd Mascot of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment\" to the Colonel of the Regiment Major General Boniface Perera by the Deputy Minister of Wild Life Resource Conservation Mrs. Sumedha G Jayasena at Dehiwala Zoo on 10th August 2017 in a festival manner. To celebrate this event the Director of Dehiwala Zoo Mrs Malsiya, Former Center Commandant of Sinha Regiment Brigadier Lalith Ratnayake, Present Center Commandant Brigadier Kithsiri Liyanage and other distinguished guests took part in the event and also connected to the event the newly constructed Lion Den for the new lion cub at the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was declared open by the Colonel of the Regiment.

In recognition of the unblemished service rendered to the motherland, His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena awarded special Presidents Truncheon and Regimental Truncheon to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 30 Monday, January 2017.
Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment being a proud bearer of a 60 year-long legacy has executed the national responsibility of protecting the motherland and its people. During the thirty year battle, 3, 862 Sinha heroes have shed their young lives for the integrity of the motherland. This ultimate sacrifice bears ample testimony to the exemplary nature and selflessness of the Sinha Regiment.

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment bid farewell to outgoing Colonel of the Regiment Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP USP ndu psc on 2nd December 2017 who retired after serving more than 36 years in the regular force of the Sri Lanka Army. Ceremony was held its customary way at Regimental Headquarters Ambepussa.

A Guard Turnout followed by a Guard of Honour accorded to the Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force with the Regimental Truncheon by the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment at the Ministry of Defence ground.
