‘The Poson Maha Bath Dansala’ which was organized for the forth consecutive year under the supervision of the 121 Brigade was held this year also at Kumbukkana Junction on 16 June 2019. This was organized under the directions of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP VSV USP ndu and the supervision of the Brigade Commander of 121 Brigade, Brigadier N C Somaweera RWP RSP USP. Further, the officers as well as other ranks of the brigade contributed for this and the civilians of the area also provided their fullest support to make this event a success.

The dansala which is annually organized by the Viru Kekulu Pre School, Pallekele was held this year also in parallel with the Poson Poya Day. The kids of the Pre School also participated for this event and the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division, Major General T J Nanayakkara RWP VSV USP ndu also graced the occasion.

Representing the Indian Tri Forces a team of Officers visited Kandy which is in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central) on 16 June 2019 along with their family members. They were welcomed by the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division, Major General T J Nanayakkara RWP VSV USP ndu and the lunch was served at the Peradeniya Rest House. On the same day they worshipped the Sri Dalanda Maligawa and they were accompanied by the Brigade Commander of 111 Brigade, W M R S T Aluvihare RWP RSP. The visiting officers left Kandy around 1630 hours concluding their visit happily.

A distribution of school accessories was taken place at Andaragasyaya Primary School, Hambantota on 16 June 2019 under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP USP VSV ndu and a concept of Major General P W D K Jayathilake USP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 12 Division. This donation was organized with the financial assistance of Mr Menaka Jayawardane and he sponsored for 271 students of poverty stricken families in the area and each student received Rs 10 000 worth gift pack of school accessories. Further, a nutritious meal also was served to the students to mark the successful termination of the event.

An awareness programme was conducted to make aware the school children and their parents on explosives which have become a frequently talked yet a doubtful topic in the present day scenario. With the purpose of educating the subjected group to identify the explosives in advance, the Commander of the Army initiated to conduct this programme. Accordingly, on 07 June 2019 at Madduma Bandara Vidyalaya in Pilimatalawa this awareness programme was conducted under the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G J L Waduge RWP RSP VSV USP ndu and the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division.

A programme called ‘ Rajyasewaya Gamata’ was launched in Matale district in order to educate the public on the state services which resolve the problems and issues in the regional level on 01 May 2019 at Sri Sangamitta College, Matale. Further, an office was also established at this programme area representing the SL Army by the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry to launch a recruitment programme. Moreover, the officers from 11 Division of Security Forces (Central), Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Directorate of Personnel Administration, Directorate of Pay and Records as well as Directorate of Recruiting participated in this programe representing the SL Army.
