On 27 March , 2023, with the approval of Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, a contingent of Army personnel, including officers of the 613 Infantry Brigade, 3 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch, and 14 (v) Battalion Gamunu Watch, launched a beach clearing project as a community programme in a 3 Km coastal belt area from Matara Delikanda to the Nilwala river estuary, which remained highly polluted due to heaps of discarded wrappers and polythene waste.

Army personnel of 61 Infantry Division Headquarters organized another noble project for the betterment of two personnel who are serving at the Divisional Headquarters by providing a wheelchair for a differently abled child of a civilian lady and donating a stock of school accessories, approximately worth of Rs 90,000.00 to a soldier who has five children on 22 March 2023 respectively.

In line with the 3rd anniversary of 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, the Apeksha Hospital Maharagama was benefitted with a worth of Rs.115,000/= a large stock of dry rations including rice, dhal, noodles, etc for the betterment of the inpatients with the contribution of Army personnel of 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery on 20 March 2023.

A group of Army personnel belongs to the 14 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch of 613 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division, under the Security Forces (West) assisted in conducting a ‘Shramadana’ campaign by providing manpower in order to clean the Bodhiya and the surrounding of the temple in Godewaththa temple in Galle District on 15 March 2023.

The Commander Security Forces (West)Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP ,on the directions of Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, instructed the respective General Officer Commandings of 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions to provide the needy assistance in order to maintain essential health services due to a strike over trade union issues of several sections at the hospitals that are located in the Security Forces (West) Area of Responsibility by employing Army troops as requested by the hospital authorities on 15 March 2023.

Responding to an emergency need, around the afternoon hours on 13 March 2023, a contingent of Army personnel belonging to the 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the 611 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) assisted to douse a sudden fire that had occurred in two temporary houses that are located near the Ranwella junction in the Kegalle town area.
