  • 61 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS WITH SPONSOR SUPPORT BUILD A NEW HOUSE FOR A NEEDY FAMILY

    Troops of 2 (V) GW of 613 Infantry Brigade under 61 Infantry Division with the sponsorship, provided by the `EVEREST’ Sports club - Watareka, contributed their labour and technical assistance to build a new house for a deserving family in Wakwella, Galle. The new house was vested for beneficiary on 11 September 2023 during a simple ceremony in the presence of Major General R A J N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division.

    The Island- Wide mobile Exposition of Omniscient Relics and the ‘Choodamanikya’ of the completely renovated and restored ‘Deegawapiya’ pagoda in the east marked its inauguration at Gangarama Temple on Sunday evening (03rd September 2023) with the participation of the commander of 142 Infantry and other senior officers of Tri Forces.

  • DISTRIBUTION OF COOKED MEALS FOR AFFECTED PEOPLE IN FLOODED AREAS IN WANATHAMULLA

    Several Areas of Colombo city affected due to the adverse weather condition including Wanathamulla and disrupted the daily routine of civilian population of the region. After the assessing the situation, the distribution of coocked meals to the affected people of Wanathamulla area was carried out by 14th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infranrty Regiment and the 6th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment on 03rd of September 2023.

  • REMOVE A FALLEN TREE DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER

    Due to the adverse weather condition, a tree has fallen to the road near the Pettah railway station and obstructed the motor traffic of the area. The troops of our battalion quickly respond on that situation and removed that tree from the road with the support of Colombo Municipal Council Fire Brigade.

    The Sri Lankan military is tasked to respond to any natural or man-made disaster situation in this island nation, and among these, Fire-Fighting is one of the most hazardous situations where the military must intervene immediately. In view of the above, under the directions of the Army Headquarters and the guidance of the Commander Security Forces West, Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Security Forces headquarters (West) conducted a "train the trainer" course on Fire Fighting in affiliation with the Fire Service Department Colombo from 1st September 2023 to 3rd September 2023 at the Engineer Division premises in Mattegoda.
