In celebration of World Children’s day, on the conceptual guidance of Brigadier R R de S Dharmawickrema RSP, the Commander of the 141 Infantry Brigade, the 6th Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery and the 8th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry distributed lunch and stationary packs among 40 kids at the Vihara Maha Devi Preschool, Nittambuwa and 24 children at Isuru Children's Home, Siyambalape on 01 October 2024. In addition, a special musical programme to entertain the children was organized at the end of the event making the day memorable for children.

Major T S P Kumara RSP SLNG assumed duties as the 14th Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard on 03 August 2024. The newly appointed Commanding Officer was awarded with a Guard Turnout and a Parade by the troops of the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard soon after his arrival at the premises, in accordance with military traditions.

On 26 August 2024, Major ATR Abeynandana assumed duties as the 13th Commanding Officer of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard. The newly appointed Commanding Officer was honored with a guard turnout at the entrance of the battalion. Following the military formalities, Major ATR Abeynandana officially took office at an auspicious time. To mark the occasion, he planted a sapling at the camp premises. Major ATR Abeynandana then addressed the troops, highlighting the battalion’s roles, tasks and discipline of the troops. The event concluded with an All Ranks tea, providing an opportunity for the newly appointed Commanding Officer to interact with both officers and other ranks of the battalion.

As per the instructions of Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces (West), the Directorate of Welfare conducted an awareness program on 28 August 2024 at the 4 Sri Lanka Artillery lecture hall. The program covered various welfare benefits available to Army personnel, including the facilities provided by the Directorate of Welfare, the admission process for Grade 1 for the children of Army personnel, membership details, loan procedures, and the Suwa Sahana Insurance scheme.

Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding of the 57 (15) Infantry Division, paid an official visit to the 143 (153) Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Puttalam on 20 August 2024. The Commander of the 143 Infantry Brigade warmly welcomed the GOC and the visiting senior officers.

On 19 August 2024, 150 food parcels were distributed to underprivileged individuals in the Colombo area. This initiative was carried out following the instructions given by Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP, the General Officer Commanding of the 14th Infantry Division. The distribution was conducted under the supervision of Major General KAU Kodithuwakku RSP USP psc IG, the Deputy General Officer Commanding of the 14th Infantry Division.

Dharmawickrema RSP, the 141 Infantry Brigade organized an engaging multi-sport tournament to foster sportsmanship, camaraderie, and unity among its troops. This well-received event took place over several days and featured a diverse array of competitions, including Carrom, Chess, Daam, Volleyball, and Tug of War.

Under the esteemed leadership of Major General SWM Fernando RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West), the Directorate of Legal Services, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Law took the initiative to organize a lecture at the Army Gymnasium Panagoda on 16 August 2024. The session, led by Attorney-at-Law Mr. KS Harshan Perera, was attended by 50 officers and 1400 other rankers from the under-command divisions, Brigades, affiliated Battalions, and regimental centers within the Army Cantonment Panagoda.
